Here are some suggestions....

1.
Share and/or write a story connected to an old object in one’s own family.

2.
Students may play with “What beloved objects might some famous folktale characters have kept to pass on?” For example: Does Little Red Riding Hood’s great-granddaughter have her basket? Park of the red cape? Does Cinderella’s great-great grandson have one of her glass slippers on a bookshelf?

3.

This story has a particular plot structure—cumulative. What other stories can students identify that share this story shape? For example, The House That Jack Built, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and Why Mosquitoes Buzz in Peoples’ Ears.
